Within Barclays Innovation Bank, Eagle Labs is a free support network for founders and entrepreneurs, providing access to programmes, mentoring, funding opportunities, and expert networks that help businesses start and scale. Through Barclays’ extensive networks, Eagle Labs brings founders together to support innovation and growth across the UK.

Established in 2015, Eagle Labs has supported around 20,000 companies across the UK. Collectively, those businesses have raised more than £5 billion in funding. Eagle Labs works closely with universities, local and central government, and major corporates to help founders and entrepreneurs succeed.

Eagle Labs operates as a national team with 43 locations across the United Kingdom, including a strong presence in Oxford. The team is based in Headington and Oxford city centre, working closely with The Oxford Trust.

Key achievements include:

  • Receiving a £12 million government grant in recognition of the impact and success of Eagle Labs.

  • Building strategic partnerships with leading global companies including Google, Microsoft, and NVIDIA.

  • Developing a nationwide team with deep industry expertise and specialist networks that actively support diverse founders and high-growth businesses.

For Matt, the best thing about the Oxfordshire innovation ecosystem is its people: “The people are by far the best part of the ecosystem, there are so many fantastic, friendly, and supportive individuals and organisations across the county.”
