Ox Tech Week

Equinox is curating some independent events as part of our support for the inaugural Oxford Tech Week (26 to 29 May), focussed around our commitment to delivering innovation that drives economic growth and lasting societal impact.

Tech for All – Tuesday 26 May

Who gets left out of the innovation economy and what are we doing about it?

Whether you are an apprentice looking for you first job, or a founder looking for investment, join us to find out about innovation with purpose that has real-world impact.

Tech for All is hosted by Oxfordshire BIPC in collaboration with Equinox. It will explore how technology, investment, and support networks can create meaningful opportunities for people traditionally excluded from innovation spaces. Through panel discussions, networking, and exhibitions, speakers will share their reflections on building organisations with purpose, navigating barriers to growth, and creating impact that has lasting commercial and societal benefits.

Innovation at Oxford

On Wednesday 27 May, Professor Constantin Coussios, entrepreneur, engineer and Oxford’s newly appointed Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Innovation, will share his perspectives on the future of innovation and entrepreneurship at the University of Oxford.

Drawing on his experience as a founder and academic leader, he will discuss how universities can improve the conditions for world-leading research, talent, and ventures to deliver impact at scale.

His keynote will describe his journey as the co-founder of unicorn spin-out OrganOx, and explore the role Oxford can play in building an innovation ecosystem that is globally competitive and socially meaningful.

On the same day, Dr Olga Kozlova, brings her knowledge and insight of building innovation ecosystems with impact, as she joins leaders from science, industry, and innovation to discuss what it takes to turn deep tech ambition into real economic and strategic advantage. The session will explore how the UK and Europe can build globally competitive companies, infrastructure, and innovation ecosystems, and the practical challenges of scaling frontier technologies from breakthrough research to impact. The panel also features Jack Edmondson (OSE), Prof David Gann (UK Fusion Energy), and is moderated by Kathy Harvey.

Supporting National Growth

Why do so many high-growth companies leave the UK and how do we stop this from happening?

Under the Equinox banner, senior leaders from Oxford and Liverpool will come together to examine one of the UK’s key challenges: how to retain ambitious companies, strengthen regional economies, and ensure long-term growth happens across the country.

Our scale-up roundtable will bring together policymakers, business leaders and ecosystem partners to discuss the barriers facing high-growth companies, from investment and infrastructure to skills and talent retention. It will ask, how do regions work together to build stronger environments for sustainable growth?

Skills for All

We will explore how industry, education and government can better align around the skills needed for current and future generations. Business leaders, academic partners and regional stakeholders, will come together to address this critical issue on how to ensure skills are developed, valued and retained. They will set out what coordinated action is needed to build robust regional talent pipelines, in order to ensure that growth benefits all.

Throughout Ox Tech Week, Equinox will demonstrate its commitment to equitable innovation: connecting research, corporates, investors, developers, communities and government to ensure innovation delivers meaningful impact, shared opportunity, and sustainable growth for the UK and beyond.
